Lunchtime Inspiration

Like I always say you never know when inspiration will strike you...today it was on a lunch break at the Cal Mart. On a quick trip to FedEx and the local juice bar I was stopped in my tracks by some beautiful textiles and trend boards displayed in the lobby. Trends that are very NOW and inspire a worldly bohemian vibe that is always prominent in downtown LA, Hollywood celebrity, and jettsetter chic.

What a fantastic glimpse into the world of New York's Fashion Week elite. Each season New York Magazine, in attempts to get readers jazzed up about fashion week, asks top designers to share the inspiration behind their collections. This season 99 designers were asked to submit one image and one word that elicits their F/W 2012 collections. Included are some of my personal favs: Tory Burch, Peter Som and of course Creative Director for J.Crew Jenna Lyons. Down the Block

I was walking down Olympic in downtown LA yesterday on my way to the Cal Mart and was stopped dead in my tracks by a grungy old building covered with fantastic graffiti. Inspiration isn't always found in glamorous or beautiful places.

Creative Director for J.Crew, she is a trend setting genius so talented and magnetic I can't get enough of her. The more I learn about her the more in awe I am of her business savvy and truly unique sense of style.

Three different styles and totally unique looks, each resulting in what my opinion is perfection. It has been quite awhile since I have been inspired by a day time street look, but finally these three fantastically chic ladies have broken my fashion drought.

Channeling Claire McCardell

The bloomer is back! Perfectly pleated and delightfully draped, shorts this spring follow the aesthetic of the greatest American designer to date. Claire McCardell originated the all American look, along with the halter dress, ballet slipper, popover dress, and of course bloomers. I am so pleased to see the look back on runways and wardrobes, I cant wait to get my hands on a pair of Phillip Lim’s super comfortable yet ultra fashionable drawstring version.
