This liquid electric blue works perfectly as a seasonless neutral and adds a sophisticated pop of color to any outfit. Hat, shoe, jacket or clutch, the streets are swarming with the classic oxide derived hue. I am a huge fan of the floppy hat trend, and what better color to buy a trend piece in then cobalt blue!

The Parker
Norma’s was absolutely amazing, the food was delish, service was right on, and the ambiance was just what Sunday brunch should be. The open-air surroundings of the restaurant oozed Jonathan Adler. The Parker itself was just as impressive. It’s a stylish oasis of towering palm trees, landscapes gardens, and electric interior design. When visiting Palm Springs I definitely recommend mimosas, brunch and a stroll of the grounds at the stylishly retro Parker.

As Good As It Gets
In an odd way I’m reminded of Helen Hunt and her awkward lovability when reviewing Anna Wintour’s fall fashion week 2011 ensembles. She’s just so damn tough it makes you love her even more. Always chic and impeccably dressed Ms. Wintour sat front row at all the top designer shows including, Calvin Klein, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, and Rodarte. Her persona is alluring and her styling choices are always perfectly unique. She will forever have a top spot on my inspiration list for her endless sophistication, brilliant writings, and remarkable class. When it comes to the fashion industry Anna Wintour is definitely as good as it gets.

Channeling Claire McCardell
The bloomer is back! Perfectly pleated and delightfully draped, shorts this spring follow the aesthetic of the greatest American designer to date. Claire McCardell originated the all American look, along with the halter dress, ballet slipper, popover dress, and of course bloomers. I am so pleased to see the look back on runways and wardrobes, I cant wait to get my hands on a pair of Phillip Lim’s super comfortable yet ultra fashionable drawstring version.

Sunday at Home: San Diego
Fantastic Butterfly decor I found at ZGallerie next to a framed Marc Jacobs ad campaign and vintage metallic disco lamp. Marley the cat napping on Natuzzi couch with handmade pillows (thanks Mickey) Picked up fabric for pillows at Mood in New York last summer.
The framing project that took forever! Snapshots of friends and family mixed in with vintage magazine spreads from 90's Vanity Fair and original black and white photographs of my uber stylish grandparents from the 40's

Trend Report: Spring Staple
Gingham is always a must for a classic seasonless wardrobe, but I particularly love country style checks for spring. This year designers like Rodarte, Armani, Wunderkind, and Chanel have styled the time-honored textile in both beautifully simplistic and daringly edgy new ways. The best thing about this terrific print is that anyone can wear it and the look can be anything you want it to be. Whether your channeling Bridget Bardot, Annie Hall, or Edie Sedgwick gingham is so versatile that it truly fits into any woman’s wardrobe and never goes out of fashion.

What Would Aphrodite Wear?
Every year clients ask me what they should wear for Valentines Day Dinner. I have found that most women feel compelled to wear a little red dress. But there are other options. For a more modern take on Valentines dress I always turn to the goddess of love herself. Think feminine draping, shimmery silks, and natural tones of pink, crème and silver. For a pop of color mix in a hot pink shoe or a glamorous piece of statement jewelry. And if you must wear red try a more unique approach with a jeweled sandal or an overcoat. Hyper Color
It has been a long time since we have seen color like this on the runway. The combination of wild saturated colors looks almost as if designers this year took out a crayon box, threw it against a wall of sketches and called it a day. Many designers incorporated color ranges in their S/S 11 shows that I have never seen before. Alexandre Herchcovitch showed a color palette so bright that his runway models had to wear sunglasses down the catwalk. The normally neutral Haider Ackermann incorporated vivid blues and intense reds with his usual blacks. Will hyper color stick around for seasons to come, or will it be a repeat of the neon fiasco of 2009?

Primitive Poise
Braids, buns, and pony’s are the ultimate in effortless sleek. The looks embody a wild animalistic yet tamed down edge. Calvin Klein featured sweptback volumnized low ponytails throughout his entire Spring 11 Runway show and Emmy Rossum’s February look in Elle is killer. Can’t wait to try all the styles out at home!
