Mint Ice Cream

(Chanel Jade Polish: Richard Burbridge New York Times Style)

I have been searching for a new color combo inspiration for spring and at last I found it in the pixie-toned hues that made only a subtle appearance on the runways last fall but a major statement on the streets for the season. It’s almost a chalky washed out mint green, and when paired with basic staples like navy and cream the look is pulled together and brilliantly fresh. Chanel's Jade polish or Alexander Wang's mint mesh combo sweater are the perfect purchases to revive any spring wardrobe.

The Layering Experts

One of the things I find myself admiring the most in a well-dressed woman is flawless layering. Any woman that can layer and accessorize without looking like a bag lady or Eskimo is my hero. I myself do not layer enough and it is a stylistic thing that I am perpetually working on. Also, living in Southern California the seasonal weather allowance for layering fabulous coats, scarves, and accessories is only a fleeting couple of months out of the year. I have always found myself drawn to street shots from Milan, London, and New York when it comes to fall attire, and I think I have discovered the real draw; sophisticated layering that offers a more complex look with multi dimensions of details.

Fashion Innovation at its Finest

Amit Aggarwal’s forward designs hold an illusive beauty in their intricate forms its almost magical. Fun, playful, ethereal, and intelligent design at its finest. Aggarwal is a true wizard of construction, the type of designer that keeps this industry moving towards an exciting innovative future.

“The collection uses hand-draped silk, frippery cutting of PVC and metallic strips inserted into tulle to give it form. Subtle yet skillfully shirred fabric and sculptural piping are used to achieve the Raphaelesque forms.” (WGSN)

Les Chaussures Parfaites

Miu Miu’s Fall Winter 2011 shoes were not autumnal at all, but they are fun, attention grabbing and glittery, pretty without being too over-the-top. They are absolutely the definition of eye candy. Its as if Dorothy followed the Candy Land road all the way home to Hollywood. It can be difficult to balance glitzy girly with true sophistication and this year Miu Miu definitely hit the mark with their inspiring new fall line. (shoe shots WGSN)

Trend Report: Beautifully Organic

Organic fashion is not just reserved for hippies anymore. The luxury, glamour and innovative designing using organic materials has reached another level. The idea is now just as beautiful as the art, fashion, and home decor created in the eco friendly manner. Fashion designer Gary Harvey created a stunning gown with recycled newspaper. New York artist Andrew Clark creates breathtaking wall art with fallen leaves from the Hudson River Valley. Angeles Alvarez has shown his creative eco art in museums through out Buenos Aires. Sass Brown professor at FIT has written a book honoring the ground-breakers in the fashion industry and proving that eco fashion is not about the boring beige t-shirts anymore. These gorgeous works of art all stem from the same idea of living an environmentally responsible existence and they are truly an inspiration.

Trend Report: Pile It On

In fashion there is no such thing as too much fur and too many accessories. Quite a few stylists and industry professionals tend to disagree with me on that one, but as a rule when it comes to jewels the more the merrier. And when it comes to fur, I have recently come to the conclusion that more is more in that department as well. When reviewing Vogue’s street report and WGSN’s Milan fashion week snapshots I noticed that glamour is back in the form of fabulously over accessorized women everywhere.

Best Dressed Pick March: Poppy Delevigne

The Fresh-Faced English Beauty Has Conquered Social Scenes On Both Sides Of The Atlantic. With cascading platinum-blond tresses and a mischievous smile, the 22-year-old stunner has elevated her London Girl of the Moment perch to new heights with her move across the pond to Manhattan. The high social priestess clinched her status by way of genetic endowment; her mother, the former Pandora Stevens, was one of the fairest English roses of her day, and a popular dance club in London owned by her father is named after her older sister, Chloe.
